Out of the three casinos in Detroit, Greektown Casino is the one that undergoes the most frequent changes.

Since its establishment in 2000 as a tribal property, the casino has experienced several changes in ownership.

Greektown seems to be embracing a sense of permanence in 2020, as it becomes a stable entity within its parent company, Penn National Gaming, amidst a year filled with transformations.

Greektown not only leads the company’s sports betting brand but also collaborates with other Penn properties through its widely embraced mychoice rewards program.

Mychoice rewards finally hits Detroit

The process of incorporating the parent company’s systems and brands into each property is time-consuming.

In 2018, Penn made an agreement to acquire Greektown Casino operations from Michigan billionaire Dan Gilbert, but the approval for the purchase was granted in May of the following year.

Greektown recently implemented the mychoice brand in Michigan, as they had previously announced during the summer.

How to change GT Rewards to mychoice rewards

In addition to a temporary table set up outside of the high-limit gaming area, players have the option to bring their GT Rewards cards to either the Player Services or Promotions counter at the casino.

Your points will accumulate and determine your placement in one of the five mychoice rewards tiers: Choice, Advantage, Preferred, Elite, and The Owners Club.

Prizes vary in value, starting from $10 for food options available to beginners, and extending to extravagant gifts like a lease on a Mercedes-Benz or luxurious vacations for esteemed attendees.

However, as with any significant changes in 2020, there were obstacles encountered during the process.

On Thursday afternoon, all the designated mychoice areas experienced lengthy queues during a visit. Furthermore, the kiosks meant for redeeming rewards either weren’t working or failed to recognize accounts.

Eventually, the issues of patient patrons were resolved and they were able to redeem their points for free play or food vouchers.

Players can pad rewards points regionally

Players in Greektown can now add funds to their mychoice accounts at Penn’s casinos across the country.

The program is honored by Penn’s 35 casinos located in 16 states, which includes four establishments in Ohio, including the nearby Hollywood Casino in Toledo.

On social media, Hollywood General Manager Justin Carter extended a warm welcome to Greektown, embracing them as a valued addition to the “mychoice family.”

Carter expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Both Toledo and Detroit offer exceptional opportunities for players, whether they are from Toledo and enjoy visiting Detroit, or from Detroit and relish the chance to come to Toledo. These two destinations provide an incredible platform not just for earning and playing, but also for redeeming rewards. It’s truly fantastic.”

Social casino also available for mychoice rewards

You can now access the social online casino mychoicecasino.com through the Greektown Casino website as well.

You can accumulate mychoice tier points by purchasing credits (1 tier point for every 50 cents spent on credits). Additionally, players have the opportunity to earn points at the Greektown sportsbook, where a $10 straight or futures bet, or a $5 parlay will earn them 1 tier point.

Next month, the permanent Barstool Sportsbook will be launched in Greektown.

Greektown’s online sports betting, set to be launched later this year, will be powered by the brand. The Barstool online sportsbook in Michigan is the sole launch planned for the remainder of 2020. Currently, the app is exclusively accessible in Pennsylvania.

In addition, the mychoice rewards system will include the integration of Penn’s Hollywood Casino online brand, which is expected to be introduced by the end of 2020.
