In spring 2025, Bay Mills Resort & Casino will commence a significant expansion project.
Next year, the Brimley casino will commence a $65 million project, initiating the construction phase. Not only will this endeavor introduce fresh amenities for its patrons, but it will also generate numerous employment prospects within the vicinity.
The completion of the entire project is scheduled for 2025.
What’s part of the Bay Mills expansion project?
The current Bay Mills amenities will undergo numerous upgrades as part of this $65 million project.
In summary, the plan entails the subsequent interior enhancements:
- There are 134 more rooms available, each equipped with a balcony.
- New deli
- A spa equipped with specialized rooms for massage therapy.
- There is a pool accompanied by a splash pad.
- Hot tubs

In addition, the resort’s employees will enjoy an enhanced break room, offering them more room to unwind and relax.
The expansion plans encompass the perimeter of the resort, incorporating:

DraftKings Sportsbook set to open next month
In addition to the expansion plans, Bay Mills Resort & Casino is set to soon launch a permanent retail sportsbook.
Bay Mills launched a temporary DraftKings retail sportsbook in June, with the intention of establishing a permanent version in the upcoming fall.
The permanent version is almost finished and is expected to be fully built by the end of this month. Bay Mills has tentatively set a Nov. 6 grand opening date, coinciding with the Week 9 NFL game between the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers.
The comprehensive DraftKings Sportsbook will include a spacious video wall and odds board, as well as numerous self-service kiosks and a ticket cage for in-person transactions.
Bay Mills has experienced tremendous success with DraftKings Sportsbook MI, which has emerged as a major online sensation. The sportsbook currently ranks third in terms of Michigan’s all-time sports betting handle, amounting to an impressive $1.61 billion. Additionally, it has generated a remarkable revenue of over $88 million.
Who is handling the Bay Mills project?
In preparation for the spring groundbreaking, Bay Mills Indian Community plans to solicit bids for its expansion project during the upcoming winter.
The architectural firm, DSGW, has been appointed as the architects for this project.
According to BMRC General Manager Richard LeBlanc, the visitors hold a great affection for Bay Mills Resort & Casino. He further mentioned that this expansion will enable them to go beyond expectations in fulfilling the guests’ requirements, while also offering them an unparalleled experience on Lake Superior.
BMRC, established in 1995, boasts a workforce of over 200 employees. This casino offers an impressive array of amenities, including 600+ slot machines, eight table games, two restaurants, a golf course, a gift shop, a hotel, and an RV-Park.
According to BMIC President Whitney Gravelle, the Bay Mills Indian Community has consistently been at the forefront of progress in Indian Country. Gravelle expressed that by expanding their enterprise operations, they can continue to thrive and establish themselves as the top destination in the Upper Peninsula. Gravelle further expressed pride in the accomplishments of their team and tribal nation.
