When a resident of Washtenaw County, Michigan, received an email notifying them of winning a $99,821 lottery prize, they wisely approached it with skepticism.

Lotto winner deleted notification email
The winner of the Michigan Lottery Connect said that they had been playing the Monthly Jackpot game frequently due to its second chance feature. However, when they received an email informing them that they had won the second chance jackpot, they initially believed it to be a scam and promptly deleted it.
Despite numerous attempts by the Lottery to reach out to him, he remained unconvinced of its authenticity.
He mentioned receiving a couple more emails about the prize and even a voicemail from the Lottery, but he dismissed them as he continued believing it was a scam.
As the deadline for prize claims approached, he mustered the courage to contact the Lottery and verify his victory.
He said he made the decision to contact the Lottery as a precautionary measure, in case the email turned out to be genuine. Upon receiving confirmation from them that the prize was indeed authentic, he expressed his astonishment and gratitude, prompting him to make a phone call.
The winner, who is 70 years old, expressed his intention to use the prize money to settle his mortgage and enter retirement.
