MICOOP boosted guarantees for Saturday and Sunday

The recently increased assurances now encompass a total of three Saturday events and seven Sunday events. Specifically, on Saturday, Feb. 27, the following events and revised guarantees are as follows:

  • The H.O.R.S.E. (Turbo) tournament, originally with a $3K prize guarantee, has now been increased to $6K. The event is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. and requires a $50 buy-in.
  • The $50 No Limit Hold’em (Rebuy) tournament, initially guaranteed at $10,000, has now been increased to a $20,000 guarantee, scheduled for 7 p.m.
  • The NLHE (No Limit Hold’em) tournament, called the Saturday Speedway SE Turbo, will start at 8 p.m. The initial guarantee for the prize pool was $10,000, but it has now been increased to $20,000.

Similarly, the seven events planned for Sunday, Feb. 28 follow the same principle.

  • The $100 No Limit Hold’em (8-Max, Marathon) tournament, initially guaranteed at $25K, has now been increased to $50K, and will commence at 2 p.m.
  • The Sunday Warm-Up SE tournament on Sunday at 4 p.m. has a buy-in of $50 for No Limit Hold’em (NLHE). The initial guaranteed prize pool was $12.5K, but it has now been increased to $25K.
  • The Sunday Special SE poker tournament, with a $250 buy-in, will now have a guaranteed prize pool of $100,000 instead of the initial $50,000 guarantee. The event is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
  • The Sunday Special Mini NLHE tournament, which originally had a guaranteed prize pool of $15,000, has now been increased to $30,000. The event will commence at 5:30 p.m.
  • The scheduled time for the $50 PLO (8-Max, Turbo) tournament was 7 p.m. Initially, there was a guaranteed prize pool of $5,000. However, the guarantee has now been increased to $10,000.
  • The $100 No Limit Hold’em (6-Max) tournament originally had a $10,000 prize pool guarantee, but it has now been increased to $20,000. The tournament begins at 8 p.m.
  • The Sunday Supersonic SE NLHE (Hyper-Turbo) tournament, initially guaranteed at $10K, has now increased its guarantee to $20K, and will commence at 10 p.m. with a buy-in of $75.

Rebecca McAdam Willetts, the associate director and group public relations of PokerStars, expressed delight over the exceptional reception of our inaugural Championship of Online Poker in Michigan. She further added that in order to commemorate this success, we wanted to show our gratitude and celebrate with our esteemed players.

“We are delighted to announce that, based on the feedback from the poker community in Michigan, we have decided to double the value provided to our players.”

PokerStars MI seeing big fields in first six days of MICOOP

The increase in guarantees wasn’t entirely surprising, considering the large number of participants and the substantial prize pools throughout the tournament’s initial six days.

All 22 events held up until now have exceeded their guaranteed amounts, indicating that PokerStars Michigan set conservative goals when launching less than a month ago. Notably, some prize pools have even doubled or tripled the original guarantees.

Initially, the 60-event series boasted a total of guarantees that exceeded $1 million. However, after 22 events, a remarkable sum of over $733,000 has already been distributed in awards.

Shortly after the PokerStars Pennsylvania site was launched, the first-ever PACOOP was recalled, which led to an increase in guarantees.

At first, the inaugural PACOOP consisted of 50 events with a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million. However, as the tournament progressed, the guarantees were increased, resulting in a final prize pool of over $1.55 million, surpassing the initial total of $1.225 million.
