BetMGM Poker makes it two Michigan online poker sites

Although BetMGM Poker was approved by the Michigan Gaming Control Board to go live on January 22, it chose to only release its online casino and sportsbook platforms. As a result, PokerStars MI took advantage of this opportunity and launched on January 29, gaining a nearly two-month advantage in the market.

The busiest casino in Detroit’s downtown trio, MGM Grand Detroit, has partnered with BetMGM, bringing a significant level of name recognition to the state.

In a mere week, PokerStars Michigan swiftly surpassed Pennsylvania in terms of filled seats and emerged as the leader in online poker traffic across the country. The platform achieved this feat by hosting the first-ever Michigan Championship of Online Poker series, where over 60 events took place, ultimately awarding participants with an impressive sum of $2.2 million. The series concluded earlier this month.

BetMGM already off to strong start since Michigan launch

BetMGM emerged as the top online casino operator in Michigan during the initial 10 days after its launch on January 22, generating $11.1 million in revenue, which accounted for 37.7% of the market. Additionally, the brand secured the fourth position in terms of online sports betting handle, with $22.8 million in bets and a market share of 19.8%. Continuing its success, BetMGM maintained its lead in February, surpassing other casino operators with $26.9 million in internet gaming revenue and capturing a market share of 33.8%.

BetMGM and poker players are likely to face increased competition and higher stakes with the introduction of a second legal online poker site in Michigan.

Adam Greenblatt, the CEO of BetMGM, expressed his enthusiasm for the addition of BetMGM Poker in Michigan, stating that it completes their impressive gaming lineup in the state. He further mentioned the remarkable success of BetMGM’s sports betting and casino offerings, and expressed excitement in offering players another thrilling gaming option.

BetMGM promoting weekly, special online poker tournaments

The website promotes daily tournaments with buy-ins starting from a mere 25 cents and going up to $535.

Even before the platform became live, promotions for BetMGM Poker began to gradually appear in user accounts last week.

The platform will offer a wide range of poker variants, including signature tournaments and cash games with buy-ins at different levels. BetMGM Poker allows users to seamlessly integrate their accounts with BetMGM sports betting and online casinos, making fund management convenient with a single wallet. Additionally, users can also enjoy integration with the MGM Resorts’ M life Rewards program.

There are several tournaments being promoted, such as:

  • There is a $10,000 tournament held every day at 7 p.m. It requires a buy-in of $109 and guarantees a payout for the top 14 participants.
  • Every Thursday at 8 p.m., there is a recurring Progressive Knockout (PKO) Tournament available. The buy-in for this tournament is $320, and it includes bounties.
  • Sit & Go Tournaments, which typically last for approximately one hour, are available in three different structures: regular, turbo, and hyper-turbo. These tournaments offer buy-ins ranging from as low as 10 cents to as high as $500.
  • Join us every Tuesday at 8 p.m. for the Weekly Mega Tuesday Six-Max Tournament. With a buy-in of $535, you can compete for a guaranteed prize pool of $12,000.
  • Join us every Sunday at 5 p.m. for the Weekly Network Sunday Tournament, with a guaranteed prize pool of $40,000. The buy-in fee is $215.

On April 4, an exclusive Freeroll Invitational Tournament with a prize pool of $50,000 will be held, and it is open to all BetMGM players residing in the state.
