On February 24, William Hill declared a lasting collaboration with the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians (GTB), an Indian tribe that holds federal recognition.

William Hill has been granted exclusive rights by GTB to offer online sports betting and online casino gaming services across Michigan.

What does the partnership entail?

The plan is for William Hill to establish their very own sportsbook at the current Onyx Sports Bar located in Turtle Creek Casino and Hotel in Williamsburg.

In addition, the plan includes specific information about establishing a satellite branch at the Leelanau Sands Casino in Peshawbestown.

William Hill plans to open both locations prior to the commencement of the 2020 football season, pending approval from regulatory authorities. Once given the green light by Michigan state regulations, William Hill will initiate online casino gaming and online sports betting operations.

Joe Asher, CEO of William Hill US, expressed his satisfaction in partnering with the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians and expressed excitement about collaborating with the Tribe to offer an exceptional retail and online sports betting experience to Michigan sports fans. He highlighted the significance of Michigan in William Hill’s expansion plans in the United States, citing its sizable population and strong sports culture, supported by numerous popular college and professional sports teams.

Michael Schrader, the CEO of Grand Traverse Resort & Casinos, is excited about the prospect of this partnership opening up new opportunities for sports enthusiasts all across Michigan.

Schrader expressed in a press release the significance of partnering with a reputable sports betting and gaming brand that has a successful track record in the US market. He highlighted William Hill’s extensive knowledge in sports betting operations, marketing, and strategic media alliances, which will enable them to draw customers from all across the State of Michigan to their online offerings. Additionally, this collaboration will provide another appealing feature to attract visitors to their casinos. Schrader eagerly anticipates collaborating with William Hill to establish the finest sports book in northern Michigan at Turtle Creek Casino.
