There’s a poker odds joke that goes like this: What are the odds of getting the card you need to win a hand? It’s a simple 50-50 chance. Either you’ll hit it, or you won’t.
On Monday night, the Fall Fest 50/50 Series by PokerStars Michigan concluded. Despite encountering numerous “coin-flip” scenarios across the 50 events, Michigan’s poker players showcased their expertise, ultimately amassing over $618,000 in prize winnings.
Fifty $50 tournaments attract 12,725 entries over 10 days
The series was named after the 50 events planned from November 20th to 29th and the consistent $50 entry fee for each tournament. Although the guarantees differed, the overall prize pool for the series amounted to $507,000.
In total, the Fall Fest 50/50 events in Michigan resulted in a victorious sum of $618,098 for poker players. These events witnessed a grand total of 12,725 entries, including re-entries, averaging around 254 entries per event.
Ultimately, out of the 50 events, 42 managed to surpass their guaranteed participation numbers. Among the remaining eight events that experienced overlays, none were particularly significant. The most notable overlays occurred during the early stages of the series, where a couple of events fell short by approximately $2,200 in meeting their guarantees.
The highest amount of money awarded was in the eight-handed no-limit hold’em Main Event (No. 42), which had an impressive guarantee of $50,000, the highest in the series.
A total of 1,172 participants entered The Main Event, resulting in a prize pool of $53,326. Dominating the competition, player “joeyd1213” emerged victorious, securing a prize of nearly $8,400.
Michigan in the middle: MI Fall Fest larger than NJ, but behind PA
During a 10-day period, PokerStars held Fall Fest series on its Pennsylvania and New Jersey sites simultaneously. Although Michigan’s Fall Fest was not as large as the one in Pennsylvania, it performed better than the series in New Jersey.
Both PokerStars PA and PokerStars NJ offered a series of 40 events, each with varying buy-ins and guarantees.
The Pennsylvania series boasted the highest guarantees, amounting to $1 million. Throughout the series, almost every tournament surpassed the guaranteed prize pools, with only three having minor overlays. Ultimately, PokerStars PA players emerged victorious, collecting a total of $1.25 million during their Fall Fest.
In New Jersey, the Fall Fest series on PokerStars NJ featured a total of $412,500 in guaranteed prizes. Out of the 40 events, nine experienced overlays, resulting in players collectively earning slightly over $466,000 throughout the series.
PokerStars MI’s Fall Fest 50/50 outdraws BetMGM Poker MI series
The Fall Fest 50/50 event by PokerStars MI had a strong performance compared to BetMGM Poker MI’s End Boss Poker Series, which took place last week. It is worth mentioning that BetMGM Poker MI is the only other online poker room in the state.
The smaller series, held from November 23rd to 28th, consisted of only seven tournaments, with players collectively winning nearly $250,000 in prize money.
There is a likelihood of more than fifty percent that PokerStars MI will likely host another tournament series in December.
Please find below the field sizes, prize pools, and overlays (if any) for the Fall Fest 50/50 event on PokerStars MI.
