Michigan joins the ever-growing roster of states housing a World Series of Poker online poker room. Additionally, players in Michigan now have access to WSOP Michigan, which adds to the limited but steadily increasing selection of online poker rooms in the state.

The latest WSOP MI site showcases the same advanced software as the WSOP Pennsylvania site, which was introduced in July. The US premiere of the Poker 8 platform occurred at WSOP PA and signifies a noteworthy improvement over the outdated software that WSOP continues to employ in its online poker rooms in other states.

WSOP MI, launched on Monday, marks the third online poker site to enter the Michigan market. The state saw its first virtual games dealt by PokerStars MI in January 2021, and in March 2021, BetMGM Poker MI followed suit with its own launch.

In our WSOP Michigan poker review, you will find comprehensive details about the features, download instructions, and welcome bonuses that await you when you start using the WSOP client. This post offers in-depth information on what you can anticipate experiencing.

WSOP launch another step toward interstate play

Currently, WSOP MI will function as a ring-fenced platform, resembling the operational model of WSOP PA.

Nevertheless, there is a possibility that the site may become a part of the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement. This agreement allows players from WSOP Nevada, WSOP New Jersey, and the 888 poker-powered sites in Delaware to compete against each other in a combined player pool.

According to the Michigan Gaming Control Board, the delay lies in the acceptance of Michigan by other states.

The board had previously anticipated reaching a deal before the conclusion of 2021, but unfortunately, that did not come to fruition. Nevertheless, last week, the MGCB shared a document regarding potential tasks and considerations for operators and platform providers in relation to multistate internet poker.

Mary Kay Bean, Communications Specialist of the MGCB, stated that they have not yet been informed about the status of their application by the current compact states. The agency has released guidelines for operators and providers regarding multistate internet poker, to assist them in preparing for potential multistate poker competition in the future. Bean highlighted that operators and providers may consider focusing on developing internal controls at present.

WSOP MI employs new Poker 8 platform

The Poker 8 platform, utilized by 888 poker internationally, has garnered favorable feedback from WSOP players in Pennsylvania as well.

The software utilizes a sleek and contemporary appearance, incorporating a dark color scheme, in contrast to the older WSOP platform. The lobby showcases a user-friendly design, allowing for effortless navigation. It offers convenient shortcuts to various game categories, promotions, bonuses, and your personal account information. Moreover, a search bar is available to swiftly locate specific tournaments or game types.

The tables showcase user-friendly software that presents cards, betting amounts, and relevant details in a clear manner. In general, the platform stands out favorably compared to PokerStars MI software, as it competes closely with it. Meanwhile, WSOP MI and PokerStars MI have an advantage over BetMGM Poker MI due to their more engaging design, although BetMGM Poker MI remains functional.

Poker games available at WSOP Michigan

The client’s left-hand side displays shortcuts to four main game categories for players: cash games, tournaments, sit & go’s, as well as WSOP and 888 poker’s unique jackpot-style sit & go game called BLAST poker.

WSOP cash games

WSOP MI offers a variety of cash games including no-limit hold’em, pot-limit Omaha, and fixed-limit hold’em. However, it does not feature stud variants or other mixed games like those available at PokerStars MI. The ring games at WSOP MI are either six-handed or nine-handed.

The cash games in no-limit hold’em offer a variety of stakes, ranging from as low as $0.01/$0.02 blinds to as high as $100/$200. Similarly, the pot-limit Omaha games start with pennies and reach a maximum of $50/$100. On the other hand, the stakes for fixed-limit hold’em cash games vary from $0.05/$0.10 to $10/$20.

WSOP tournaments

At WSOP MI, you’ll find a diverse selection of multi-table tournaments (MTTs) with various buy-ins and formats. You have the option to customize the tournament lobby by selecting specific filters and highlighting preferred formats. It’s worth noting that WSOP MI exclusively offers NLHE and PLO tournaments, excluding stud or mixed game MTTs. One significant advantage of the Poker 8 platform is its support for multi-flight and multi-day tournaments, unlike the older WSOP software.

Players will discover freerolls and MTTs with buy-ins of $1 and $2 at the lower end. As for the higher buy-in tournaments, the schedule includes $109, $215, and $320 tournaments. Numerous tournaments, especially those held daily and weekly, offer guaranteed prize pools. For instance, the $109 weekly tournament held every Sunday ensures a prize pool of $50,000. This surpasses the $45,000 guarantee of PokerStars MI’s Sunday tournament, which has a comparable buy-in.

There are various types of tournaments available, such as regular and short-handed MTTs, knockout and progressive knockout bounty tournaments, freezeouts and rebuy/add-on tournaments, and SNAP fast-fold tournaments. Additionally, these tournaments can have different speeds, ranging from regular to turbo and super turbo.

The WSOP has announced that players will have the opportunity to participate in live WSOP tournaments through satellites, with the chance to play in the prestigious WSOP Main Event for as little as $1. Additionally, WSOP MI will be hosting the WSOP Online Circuit series, giving players the chance to win highly sought-after WSOP-C rings. The first series will take place from April 20 to May 1 and will feature guaranteed prizes totaling $350,000.

WSOP Sit & Go’s

WSOP MI offers a variety of sit & go tournaments, including the popular options of heads-up, six-handed, and nine-handed SNGs. Players have the flexibility to choose buy-ins that range from as low as $0.25 to as high as $200.

There are different speeds for SNGs as well, including regular, turbo, and super turbo structures. Similar to MTTs, NLHE and PLO Sit & Go’s are the only options available.

WSOP BLAST poker

WSOP MI now includes BLAST poker, a thrilling sit & go variant that offers players the chance to win up to 10,000 times their initial buy-in in a jackpot-style format.

BLAST poker resembles PokerStars MI’s Spin & Go tournaments, with similar fast-paced turbo-style short levels. However, BLAST poker games differ in two aspects. Firstly, they are four-handed instead of three-handed. Secondly, the games are timed, and when time expires, players are forced to go all in every hand until a winner is determined.

The BLAST poker games at WSOP MI have a minimum buy-in of $0.10 and offer a maximum buy-in of $30.

WSOP MI also accessible via mobile devices

Players from Michigan have the option to access WSOP MI through their mobile devices, as there are dedicated apps available for both Apple (iOS) and Android users.

The new software brings significant benefits to WSOP MI users, especially by enabling multi-tabling on mobile devices. Unlike the older WSOP apps, this feature was not available before. With the new software, players can now play up to four tables simultaneously. Additionally, the previous version of the site did not support Omaha games, but the new one does.

In addition, the app allows players to conveniently access various site features such as reviewing their account details and carrying out banking transactions.
