Michigan online poker players now have an unprecedented opportunity to compete for World Series of Poker bracelets without leaving the comfort of the Mitten State.

WSOP.com has been operating in Michigan since the end of March, which made it possible for WSOP MI to launch its exclusive online bracelet series. These Michigan-only tournaments will take place every Sunday throughout the summer, coinciding with the main WSOP festival held in Las Vegas until mid-July.

As of now, three out of the eight Sunday events in the series have concluded, accumulating a total prize pool of almost $350,000. Michigan has already announced its first three bracelet winners, and an additional five winners will be crowned in the upcoming month.

WSOP’s Norman Chad hand delivers first Michigan bracelet

In Event #1: The Big $500, Brett Blackwood from Belleville emerged victorious, triumphing over a field of 310 participants. As a result, he claimed not only the esteemed gold hardware but also the first prize of $35,559.

Norman Chad, the well-known WSOP commentator, made the most out of the situation as well. He took the opportunity to fly to Michigan and surprise Blackwood with his bracelet. During this visit, Chad also seized the chance to inquire about the frequency at which the first-time WSOP champion played on WSOP.com in Michigan.

Blackwood expressed that it was his initial encounter with the site. He confessed his unawareness of its existence, and astonishingly, he only became aware of the event on the very day it occurred.

Estes and Macleod also capture bracelets

On June 12, Todd Estes achieved a significant milestone by winning Event #2: $400 Ultra Deepstack at WSOP MI online. This victory not only made him the second MI online bracelet winner but also earned him a career-best score of $27,896. The event attracted 331 participants, resulting in a prize pool of $119,161.

John “Mac” Macleod emerged victorious in the inaugural WSOP MI online Pot-Limit Omaha event after a week, demonstrating his dominance over a field of 188 participants. His outstanding performance earned him a well-deserved prize of $21,387.

After his victory, Macleod posted on Twitter, mentioning how he drew inspiration from Dash Dudley, who had recently secured second place in the $50K PLO event at the WSOP in Las Vegas. Macleod also shared a brief video of his celebratory moment.

“That’s the winning formula for securing a bracelet! Celebrating Father’s Day with a well-deserved bracelet. It’s time to wake up the kids and make this Father’s Day unforgettable. Woo!”

WSOP MI is outpacing WSOP PA’s series

WSOP MI’s debut of an online bracelet series in Michigan has been incredibly successful. In the initial three events, the number of participants in Michigan has surpassed those in Pennsylvania, where an identical series is being conducted exclusively for players within the state’s borders.

The PA online bracelet series this summer is the second of its kind, while Michigan is hosting its inaugural series. However, Michigan has set the bar high with a total of 310 and 331 entries for its first two NLH events, surpassing PA’s 270 and 272 entries.

For Event 3, the game was changed to PLO. Michigan had a total of 188 entries for this event, each costing $500, which was over 23% higher than Pennsylvania’s 152 entries for the same event.

Michigan online bracelet series could reach seven figures

There are still five events left in the series, which include the $600 Online Deepstack Championship scheduled for June 26 and the $1,000 Online Bracelet Championship set for July 10.

In the upcoming weeks, WSOP MI is expected to witness its largest number of participants in the series, potentially exceeding a total prize pool of $1 million.

If the Online Bracelet Championship fails to reach that number, participants still have two opportunities during the final weekend. On Saturday, July 16, there is the $777 Lucky 7s Second Chance, and on July 17, the very next day, there is the $500 Summer Saver.
