The CEO of the parent company has confirmed that Barstool Sportsbook Michigan will be fully prepared for the launch of online sports betting in Michigan.
In a recently released video interview by Fantini Research, Jay Snowden from Penn National Gaming revealed that Michigan will be the next state to witness the launch of the Barstool app.
Snowden stated that in Pennsylvania, instead of trying to catch up, they are going to launch their efforts, even though they were a year behind. In Michigan, everyone starts at the same time when the gun goes off.
I believe this will serve as a strong evidence for us, demonstrating how other states may appear once they have had enough time to catch up.
What will the appearance of Michigan be in months two and three? This could potentially provide a reasonable estimate of how our operations in the 20 states across the country will look like in a few years.
According to Snowden, the most reliable indication at present suggests that Michigan’s online gambling launch is expected to take place sometime between mid and late November.
In January, Penn National purchased a 36% ownership interest in Barstool Sports, which also included the opportunity to acquire additional shares in the future. Additionally, the agreement entailed a widespread collaboration for the provision of online gambling products across the country.
Pennsylvania was step one for Barstool launch
The launch of Barstool Sportsbook in Pennsylvania in mid-September was a promising success.
According to Snowden, the launch was unprecedented, breaking records, and further information will be provided during the company’s upcoming earnings call.
According to Snowden, “At the moment, we have excellent momentum, but our progress is limited to just one state. Therefore, I believe that we still need to further validate and demonstrate our capabilities.”
Despite Michigan being the sole state on the agenda for the remainder of 2020, Barstool has grand plans for 2021.
According to Snowden, Barstool is expected to have live sports betting and online casino operations in more than twelve states by the end of the upcoming year.

- Illinois
- Indiana

Retail sportsbook coming to Detroit soon
Last week, Playinmichigan was the first to report that the Barstool app might be released after the launch of a Barstool Sportsbook retail facility at Greektown Casino in Detroit.
Greektown currently houses a temporary sportsbook, however, Playinmichigan has discovered that a permanent one might be established on the casino floor by late November.
This week, Playinmichigan provided the most recent information regarding Michigan’s online gambling launch date, which is projected to occur between November and early 2021.
