In the future, anticipate an increased presence of RG messaging and advertising from BetMGM.
BetMGM to promote responsible gambling
Starting from March 1, BetMGM made a commitment to prominently include responsible gaming messages in its market and advertising campaigns, as per their recent announcement.
BetMGM’s mobile app and various advertising platforms will prominently display RG messaging as a commitment. These platforms include billboard marketing, television, print, and radio ads throughout North America.
“In our press release, BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt emphasized our dedication to leading the industry in promoting responsible gaming. This is why we are proud to make an unprecedented pledge to highlight responsible gaming messaging in our advertising. As the sports betting and online gaming industry grows, we believe it is crucial to provide players with the necessary tools and resources to play responsibly and safely. Moreover, we are fully committed to showcasing responsible gaming in our advertising efforts.”
In addition to that, BetMGM plans to integrate gaming messages and banners across its digital and social channels. Moreover, customers visiting physical BetMGM sportsbooks, including the BetMGM Sports Lounge at MGM Grand Detroit, will encounter responsible gaming messaging on signage.
BetMGM responsible gambling messaging created through GameSense
GameSense was involved in developing the campaign messaging in partnership.
The British Columbia Lottery Corporation has developed and licensed GameSense, an acclaimed responsible gaming program, to MGM Resorts and BetMGM.
MGM Resorts’ CEO and President, Bill Hornbuckle, emphasized the importance of upholding the best interests of their guests and customers amid the ever-growing sports betting and iGaming industry. As a leading figure in gaming entertainment, MGM Resorts has successfully established the benchmark for responsible gaming through their GameSense initiative. Hornbuckle commended BetMGM for their pioneering commitment in this regard.
GameSense has been seamlessly integrated into BetMGM’s digital platforms, offering a range of features that include:
- Spending limit-setting tools
- Dispelling common gambling misconceptions
- This article elucidates the fundamental regulations of gambling.
- Customers have access to easily accessible resources that allow them to connect with expert GameSense advisors.
Responsible Gambling education coming to Michigan schools?
In a recent development, Senator Joseph N. Bellino Jr. (R-Monroe) introduced a bill aiming to introduce RG education in Michigan schools.
If Senate Bill 54 is approved, the state Department of Education will be mandated to create an instruction program addressing gambling addiction, tailored to different grade levels and age groups. The implementation of this program is planned to commence in the autumn of 2025. It will be accessible to both school districts and public-school academies.
Bellino stated, “Due to the widespread use of mobile betting apps and the legalization of online sports betting in more than 30 states, teenagers are facing challenges related to gambling addiction. It has been observed that a significant number of young individuals do not perceive gambling as a risky activity, resulting in a higher percentage of high school students experiencing gambling problems compared to adults. In order to address this escalating issue, my proposed bill has received support from both sides of the political spectrum. Its aim is to educate our students about the genuine dangers associated with gambling.”
According to the National Council on Problem Gambling, approximately 60-80% of high school students have reported engaging in gambling for monetary purposes within the past year.
Additionally, a percentage ranging from 4 to 6 of high school students are classified as being addicted to gambling.
