PKO series will bring heated action
Progressive knockout tournaments are currently very popular in the world of poker as they tend to generate a higher level of excitement and activity compared to other tournament formats.
In this particular style of play, 50% of every player’s buy-in is allocated towards the prize money, while the remaining 50% serves as their personal bounty.
Players who successfully knock out their opponents are rewarded with half of the opponent’s bounty, while the remaining half is added to their own total. Naturally, as the bounties grow, players may feel motivated to adapt their gameplay accordingly.
In addition to winning prize money from the pool, these tournaments provide players with opportunities to earn cash even if they don’t make it to the final rankings. They also allow players to accumulate larger bounties than what they receive from the prize pool alone.
BetMGM is giving the players what they want
After the conclusion of the WSOP and the return of Michigan poker players to their homes, BetMGM is determined to maintain the progress it made during the summer. This includes their successful online series and the BetMGM Poker Championship held at ARIA Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
Luke Staudenmaier, Director of Poker at BetMGM, emphasized the significance of providing players with popular options during the summer months in the poker industry. He highlighted the increasing popularity of progressive knockout events at present.
According to Staudenmaier, BetMGM Poker will be hosting its sixth series that includes a PKO event, with this being the second series solely dedicated to PKOs. The initial series of this nature took place in February 2022.
BetMGM Summer PKO Fest schedule
The series will take place on two consecutive Sundays, featuring multiple events each night. All tournaments, except for those on Saturday, Aug. 20, will be No-Limit Hold’em. Instead, the three events on that day will be played in Pot-Limit Omaha format.
