What are decimal odds?
Decimal odds are simply an alternative method of presenting odds and do not represent a different set of odds.
In principle, they simplify the process of determining potential returns for a bettor. All you need to do is multiply the stakes by the odds.
To illustrate, the odds for the United States in their Round of 16 World Cup match against the Netherlands on Saturday are listed as 3.00. Placing a $10 bet on the US Men’s National Team would result in a total return of $30, which includes both the winnings and the initial stake.
On the other hand, the Netherlands has a listed odds of 1.40, meaning that a successful $10 wager would yield a $14 return.
The winnings may be slightly affected as the odds are rounded to the hundredths place.
If you opt for a free bet, calculating your potential winnings requires an additional step. Although the FanDuel app can perform this calculation on your behalf, in case you prefer to do it manually, you can multiply the odds by your stake and then subtract your stake.

If you ever wish to switch back to American odds, simply follow the same instructions but choose “American Odds”.
Is FanDuel moving to decimal odds?
Michigan sports bettors are not being compelled by FanDuel to transition exclusively to decimal odds; rather, it is merely presented as an alternative choice.
While simplicity in math may appeal to some, others may find comfort in the familiarity of what they are accustomed to seeing.
What Michigan sportsbooks offer decimal odds?
FanDuel is not the pioneer of decimal odds in Michigan sportsbooks; it is simply following in the footsteps of its competitors.
Most other sportsbooks not only provide decimal odds but also allow you to switch to a fractional view. Thus, instead of +300, you would be presented with the odds expressed as 3/1.
Once again, the odds remain identical; it’s simply a matter of perceiving them differently.
