Michigan Man Suing DraftKings May 2021

Since the legalization of online sports betting in January 2021, DraftKings has emerged as a leading online sportsbook in Michigan.

Currently, DK is establishing a retail sportsbook at Bay Mills Resort & Casino in Brimley, situated in the eastern Upper Peninsula on Lake Superior.

The temporary retail sportsbook is set to open on Wednesday, June 22, while the permanent version is expected to open in the fall.

Michigan sports bettors will now have the opportunity to experience the retail sports betting ambiance in Brimley with the new addition.

What to expect at DraftKings Sportsbook at Bay Mills

The temporary DraftKings Sportsbook at Bay Mills will consist of a sports betting ticket cage as well as six self-service kiosks designed to replicate the appearance and experience of the DraftKings Sportsbook MI app.

More self-service kiosks and over-the-counter ticket cages will be included when the permanent sportsbook opens in the fall.

Additionally, the sportsbook will showcase a spacious video wall and a prominent odds board.

Once the permanent space is ready, Bay Mills and DraftKings plan to come together to celebrate the grand opening.

DraftKings was a big fish for Bay Mills

When Bay Mills secured DraftKings as its online operator in the summer of 2020, it garnered significant attention and recognition.

“In August of 2020,” recalled Bryan Newland, then the tribal chairman of Bay Mills, “we enthusiastically declared, ‘Let’s embark on a hunting expedition!’. Our aim was to secure a partner that aligns seamlessly with our culture, and we succeeded in pursuing the largest and most suitable one.”

Bay Mills has experienced great success from the partnership between their online sportsbook and online casino.

DraftKings has secured the third position in the historical handle for Michigan sports betting, amounting to $1.36 billion. This impressive figure has resulted in a revenue of over $70 million for DK and Bay Mills.

DraftKings holds the third position in Michigan’s all-time revenue for online casinos, with a substantial sum of $264.9 million.

Nice bounce back for Bay Mills

After being closed for nearly a week in May due to an electric fire, Bay Mills is now focusing on promoting positive news and expansion plans.

Fortunately, no individuals were harmed during the fire incident that occurred in the technology room of the casino and resort. Nonetheless, the fire did inflict damage upon their technology systems, rendering their gaming systems, internet, ATM systems, and phone systems inoperable.

Despite the brief pause, Bay Mills regulars still had access to the operational DraftKings online sportsbook and casino.
