The Michigan Gaming Control Board is dedicated to the promotion of responsible gaming and continues to uphold its commitment.
The MGCB made an announcement on Monday about a fresh responsible gaming campaign called “Don’t Regret the Bet,” which will be conducted statewide and across various forms of media.
During Problem Gambling Awareness Month in March, the campaign’s objective is to promote responsible wagering among Michigan residents, emphasizing the use of the state’s legal and regulated gambling options.
What’s included in “Don’t Regret the Bet”
The “Don’t Regret the Bet” campaign is set to launch an assertive media blitz across the state utilizing various advertising channels. This extensive promotional effort will span the entirety of 2025.
Henry Williams, executive director of the Michigan Gaming Control Board, announced in a press release that Michigan residents will be exposed to fresh public service messages on local TV and radio stations, as well as popular social media platforms, urging them to engage in gaming in a responsible manner. Williams expressed that March, being Problem Gambling Awareness Month, presents an ideal opportunity to initiate the MGCB’s educational campaign. He emphasized that this yearlong campaign is an essential measure in their continuous endeavors to inform the public about responsible gaming through the dissemination of information, tips, and strategies.
The campaign was created in collaboration with King Media, a Lansing-based company. It will encompass the following components:
- Television and radio advertisements that are aired to a wide audience.
- Gas stations now feature point-of-sale video advertisements.
- Digital billboards
- Social media
- Digital media
- Streaming services
- Podcast advertisements
Coleen King, president and founder of King Media, expressed her honor in joining forces with the MGCB to advocate responsible gambling. She emphasized that the “Don’t Regret the Bet” campaign will bring about positive changes for individuals and communities throughout Michigan, perfectly aligning with their dedication to impactful endeavors.
New website included in MGCB responsible gaming campaign
A new education website is being launched in conjunction with the advertising campaign.
Visit DontRegretTheBet.org for comprehensive resources on responsible gaming, including gaming tools, self-assessment information, and indicators of problem gambling.
The Responsible Gaming section of the MGCB website will remain intact, with the addition of a new site link.
The MGCB campaign and website received funding as part of the 2025 fiscal year budget. This budget was approved by the Michigan Legislature in the previous year and was incorporated into the State of Michigan budget signed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
The MGCB is presently in search of sustained funding for its 2025 fiscal year budget request, with the objective of extending the campaign beyond 2025.
