As the Michigan Spring Championship of Online Poker (MISCOOP) hosted by PokerStars Michigan gains momentum, BetMGM Poker Michigan, the sole competitor, intends to actively participate in the online series market rather than staying idle.
BetMGM Poker MI has recently revealed the return of the BetMGM Online Series for a second round. This exciting series will consist of 10 tournaments, with a combined guaranteed prize pool of $315,000. The action will take place from May 16th to May 23rd, aligning perfectly with the last week of MISCOOP.
Second running of BetMGM Online Series similar to first
The BetMGM Online Series took place last month, shortly after the launch of BetMGM Poker MI in late March. Throughout the series, a total of $360,000 in prize money was awarded. However, the series encountered a minor setback at the beginning, as five out of the first seven events had prize pools that exceeded the entry fees.
The series concluded positively, as the climactic $535 no-limit hold’em event drew a satisfactory number of participants. The tournament received a total of 217 entries, resulting in a prize pool of $108,500. This amount exceeded the guaranteed $75,000 and stood as the series’ highest prize pool.
Similar to the April series, the BetMGM Online Series for this month offers a 10-event schedule that will take place over the course of eight days. The total guaranteed prize pool for this month’s series is slightly higher, at $315,000, compared to last month’s $300,000. The final event, which requires a buy-in of $1,060, carries the largest guarantee of $100,000, surpassing any guarantees set in the previous BetMGM Online Series.
Apart from that, the schedule remains mostly unchanged. There is only one event that deviates from NLHE, which is a pot-limit Omaha tournament. In contrast to April’s two PKO events, this time there will be only one progressive knockout bounty event. Similarly, the final Sunday will feature a $20 buy-in “mini” event, just like before.
The complete schedule for the May running of the BetMGM Online Series is presented below.

BetMGM Poker MI again battling with short stack vs. PokerStars MI
BetMGM Poker MI is once again up against a tough competitor in their quest to attract Michigan online poker players. PokerStars MI, which launched in late January, is continuing to flourish. The MISCOOP, a major poker tournament scheduled from May 8-24, has already made a strong start since it began last weekend.
In just three days of competition, MISCOOP has already distributed a larger sum of prize money compared to what the BetMGM Online Series is expected to offer. With 27 tournaments concluded, players from PokerStars MI have managed to gather a total of approximately $395,000 in winnings from MISCOOP events.
It is intriguing to note that out of the initial 27 MISCOOP tournaments, 11 of them experienced overlays, although they were mostly of a minor nature. The combined guarantees for these events amounted to slightly above $360,000.
In total, MISCOOP offers a grand total of 120 tournaments with guaranteed prize pools amounting to $2 million. Following the conclusion of the BetMGM Online Series, the “High” edition of the MISCOOP Main Event commences, featuring a buy-in of $300 and a guarantee of $200,000.
The discrepancy is similar to the Easter weekend “showdown” that occurred in early April. It involved PokerStars MI hosting the Michigan Classic with a guaranteed prize pool of $500,000, while BetMGM Poker MI organized the Freeroll Invitational Tournament with a prize pool of $50,000.
When it comes to making comparisons, BetMGM Poker MI is more inclined to compare its May figures with the April series rather than MISCOOP.
