Can you please rephrase this statement for me?

Over the weekend and the beginning of this week, Michigan officials and lawmakers have been working to understand and address the consequences of a significant judicial ruling made last week.

Detroit casinos are currently operating under regular business conditions, adhering to safety measures such as mandatory mask usage, limited capacities at 15%, and maintaining a smoke-free environment.

On Friday, the Michigan Supreme Court declared that Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s unilateral emergency declarations in response to the pandemic violate the constitution.

How will the Detroit casinos be affected, considering their COVID-19 protocols were some of the most stringent in the nation?

MGCB guidelines for COVID-19 remain in place

On Monday, Playinmichigan received confirmation from Greektown Casino, MGM Grand Detroit, and MotorCity Casino that there were no updates or modifications to report. Each casino referred to the Michigan Gaming Control Board’s independent order and expressed their commitment to continuing compliance with no intentions of discontinuing it.

During the MGCB meeting on June 8, executive director Richard Kalm stressed that the protocols they were suggesting were merely guidelines.

On August 5th, Whitmer implemented a set of guidelines that facilitated the reopening of casinos, which encompassed the enforcement of a mask mandate, a 15% capacity limitation, and the prohibition of indoor smoking.

Kalm strengthened the previous guidelines by issuing his own order the day before two of the casinos reopened.

According to Mary Kay Bean, the spokesperson for the MGCB, the orders remain in effect, and the board is currently assessing the subsequent actions.

In an email on Tuesday, she informed Playinmichigan that we would have more information soon.

Except for Kings Club Casino in Brimley, all of Michigan’s 23 tribal casinos have reopened following their closure in March. These tribal casinos are not obligated to comply with orders from Governor Whitmer and the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) since they operate on sovereign land.

Detroit casinos deferring to MGCB order

Sports betting launched in Detroit just five days before the closure of the city’s casinos on March 16 due to the rapid spread of the coronavirus.

On Monday, Marvin Beatty, the spokesperson for Greektown, informed Playinmichigan that there were no plans to relax mandates in the near future.

Beatty expressed serious doubt about the implementation of those changes, particularly if they were regressive.

Both MGM Grand and MotorCity provided similar responses when asked for information.

Regional President David Tsai stated through a spokesperson that MGM is strictly following the regulations set by MGCB and implementing the company’s 7-Point Safety Plan.

MotorCity has issued a statement, which states:

MotorCity Casino remains committed to following the health and safety guidelines set forth by the Michigan Gaming Control Board. These measures encompass conducting health screenings for guests and staff, mandating the use of masks indoors, practicing social distancing, and implementing routine sanitization procedures.

Supreme court ruling hasn’t necessarily opened Michigan

Whitmer requested the court to postpone the impact of its decision until October 30th.

Afterward, the Department of Health and Human Services under her jurisdiction issued individual mandates for certain requirements that overlapped with others, such as the compulsion to wear masks, limitations on gatherings, as well as restrictions on restaurants and bars.

Furthermore, numerous counties throughout the state have implemented their own requirements for wearing masks following the decision made by the state supreme court.

On Monday, County Executive Warren C. Evans restated that masks are mandatory in Wayne County, Detroit, in accordance with the state’s guidelines.

She was really excited about going to the party.

Could you please rephrase that?
