Next week, the 14th Michigan-based online sports betting platform is set to be launched.
The Michigan Gaming Control Board has granted authorization to the Gun Lake Band of Pottawatomi Indians of Michigan and platform provider Parx Interactive to introduce online sports betting starting at 9 a.m. on Monday. This partnership follows the successful launch of Play Gun Lake online casino in April.
MGCB executive director Henry Williams announced in a news release that with the complete authorization of Gun Lake Casino, 14 Michigan operators and their platform providers can now provide internet casino gaming and online sports betting to their customers. Williams mentioned that the revenue generated from these activities will be used to promote responsible gaming, contribute to the First Responder Presumed Coverage Fund, support K-12 education, and aid in economic development.
The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan, the 15th licensee for online gambling in the state, has announced its intention to introduce online gambling products under the name of its renowned Soaring Eagle Casino. Though no specific timeline has been provided yet, the tribe has joined forces with GAN for sports betting services.
Gun Lake Tribe partnered with Parx, but still using self brand
The Gun Lake Tribe is taking a middle ground approach to branding as they operate Gun Lake Casino in Wayland, located near Grand Rapids.
In contrast to Soaring Eagle, Four Winds Casino, and FireKeepers Casino operators, the Gun Lake Tribe formed a partnership with an external casino brand, Parx Casino from Pennsylvania.
In an attempt to promote the PA brand in Michigan, marketing initiatives were implemented, with the inclusion of the Parx Casino brand on the sideline advertising board during Detroit Pistons games throughout the previous season.
The choice for the casino brand was Play Gun Lake, which implies that the sports betting platform could be named Parx.

Despite making progress by surpassing a few competitors, Play Gun Lake still has a long way to go in establishing its presence in the fiercely competitive online casino market of Michigan.
In June, the platform generated a total of $1.27 million in online casino revenue. After accounting for free play promotions, the adjusted revenue amounted to $1.14 million. Surpassing other competitors like PointsBet Casino, William Hill Casino, and FireKeepers, which had a preliminary release in June before expanding in July, the platform achieved a remarkable $585,200 in revenue for the month.
Since its online launch in April, the Gun Lake and Parx partnership has contributed $183,131 in state taxes.
