Here are a few other remarkable entries from this year’s Michigan Lottery rewards list:
- On April 8, only a single $1 million prize was won through online play, specifically on Mega Millions, out of the total 23 available prizes.
- In addition to the 23 prizes worth a minimum of $1 million, a grand total of 88 prizes worth at least $100,000 have been granted in the year 2022.
- A grand total of 348 prizes, each valued at a minimum of $600, have already been distributed within the initial two days of June.
Instant retail games sit up top
In 2022, the most valuable awards consisted exclusively of retail-purchased games, each being a distinct instant game.
“The distinguishing factor of an instant game, in comparison to a draw game, is its ability to captivate both avid and casual players,” expressed Jake Harris, the Player Relations Manager at the Michigan Lottery. “These games possess a wide-ranging appeal that resonates with all types of individuals.”
Although most of the top prizes for those games have already been won, the encouraging news is that there are still four grand prizes up for grabs.
As of Thursday evening, both Extreme Cash and $4,000,000 Cash still offer two opportunities to win the grand prize of $4 million each.
Bigger tickets drawing more interest
The top prizes for each of the $30 instant games increased as the price of each ticket increased.
According to Harris, the Michigan Lottery’s most successful revenue is generated by tickets priced at $5 or higher.
Harris stated that the current issue revolves around the price points, as games priced at $5 or higher tend to perform better. This could be attributed to both player interest and the higher prize amounts offered. For instance, a $1 instant game usually offers a top prize of around $5,000, while a $2 ticket can potentially yield $30,000 to $50,000, depending on the specific game. However, once the price point reaches $5, the prize amount typically ranges from $300,000 to $500,000. This suggests that players are more inclined to participate in games that offer substantial winnings.
There are currently a total of 89 instant retail games available in Michigan. The number of different games available varies depending on the price of each instant ticket.
- The value of 1 is 8.
- The ratio of 2 to 18.
- The ratio of $5 to 22.
- The ratio of $10 to 18.
- The ratio of $20 to 16.
- The ratio of $30 to 7.
Online presence growing
Despite retail being the primary source of business for the Michigan Lottery, the organization has been steadily expanding its collection of online games.
At present, the Michigan Lottery website provides a selection of 148 online games, surpassing the limited 89 in-store options available.
There is another emerging trend where players have the opportunity to utilize non-winning tickets from specific games and enter them into second-chance games on the website.
Harris explained that players are advised to keep their non-winning tickets and use the Michigan Lottery app to scan the ticket’s barcode. This allows them to participate in second chance games and have another opportunity to win money. Harris believes that this strategy benefits both online and traditional retail players, and it has been well-received by the players so far.
