The grand finale of the Michigan Spring Championship of Online Poker (MISCOOP) on PokerStars MI is rapidly approaching this weekend. With over 80 tournaments completed out of the total 120, the series has already distributed an impressive sum of over $1.43 million in winnings.
MISCOOP is on track to rival the previous largest tournament series on the site, the Michigan Championship of Online Poker (MICOOP), which awarded $2.2 million. MICOOP took place over the course of February and March.
Big turnouts, six-figure prize pools, some overlays
Similar to the structure of previous “SCOOP” occasions on various PokerStars platforms, the MISCOOP events consist of three buy-in tiers: “high,” “medium,” and “low.” In total, there are 120 tournaments, spread across 40 events, meticulously organized within a 17-day timeframe.
MISCOOP has provided guarantees totaling nearly $1.23 million, surpassing the overall prize pool total by approximately $200,000. The series as a whole offers a guaranteed prize pool of $2 million.
Out of the 78 events that have taken place, several tournaments have experienced overlays, with at least 20 of them falling short of the required number of entries to fulfill their guarantees. Although the majority of overlays have been relatively minor, the largest one exceeded $4,100, resulting in a total of over $18,600 in overlays.
So far in MISCOOP, there have been two prize pools exceeding six figures.
The eight-handed High Roller event, designated as Event No. 11-H, had the highest buy-in in the series at $2,000. With a total of 55 participants, the prize pool for this event amounted to $104,500.
Additionally, the recent “high” edition of the Sunday Special, Event #20-H, featured a $200 buy-in and a guaranteed prize pool of $100,000. With a total of 553 participants, the prize pool nearly reached the target, totaling around $103,000.
High Roller, Main Event highlight remaining MISCOOP schedule
There are still several exciting events left on the MISCOOP schedule. One of them is the highly anticipated six-handed High Roller tournament (Event No. 27-H) with a buy-in of $1,000 and a guaranteed prize pool of $50,000. This thrilling event will take place at 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
As the anticipation builds, all eyes are on the upcoming “high” edition of the MISCOOP Main Event scheduled for this weekend. With a buy-in of $300 and an impressive guarantee of $200,000, this tournament has captured everyone’s attention. The thrilling two-day event kicks off at 6 p.m. on Sunday. There are still ample satellites available for the Main Event and other MISCOOP tournaments. Additionally, don’t forget about the MISCOOP Depositor Freeroll taking place on Sunday at 2 p.m.
If any player from PokerStars MI deposits $30 or more using the code “MISCOOP” before 1:59 p.m. on Sunday, they will be eligible for a freeroll entry. The tournament will award seats in the $300 Main Event to the top 50 finishers, totaling $15,000 in tournament tickets to be won.
The MISCOOP Main Event — Mid ($75 buy-in) and MISCOOP Main Event — Mini ($30 buy-in) will commence on Sunday at 6 p.m.
Comparing MISCOOP to other tournament series, US sites
As observed, MISCOOP is on track to conclude with a sum of awards that will compare to the MICOOP series of PokerStars MI.
Throughout the MICOOP, a grand total of 60 tournaments took place, each offering higher guarantees as the series progressed. Ultimately, these guarantees amounted to an impressive sum of nearly $1.43 million. Remarkably, Michigan-based poker players emerged victorious, collectively raking in a staggering $2.2 million by the series’ conclusion.
There is no doubt that PokerStars is also comparing the participation numbers of MISCOOP with the other SCOOP series held at its US sites.
In April and May, Pennsylvania hosted the PASCOOP, which consisted of 120 events. Remarkably similar to the MISCOOP schedule, this series concluded with players on PokerStars PA achieving a remarkable $2.64 million in winnings. Surpassing this impressive milestone might prove challenging for MISCOOP during its upcoming weekend.
Currently, the NJSCOOP is in progress at PokerStars NJ, coinciding with MISCOOP. With a total of 165 tournaments planned and reduced guarantees, the New Jersey series has awarded over $876,000 to players through 104 tournaments.
When comparing BetMGM Poker Michigan to its only competitor in the state, PokerStars, it is evident that the tournament series offered by PokerStars MI has outperformed BetMGM Poker MI.
In April, following its launch in March, BetMGM Poker MI introduced its inaugural online series called the BetMGM Online Series, which consisted of 10 tournaments and resulted in players earning slightly over $360,000 in winnings.
BetMGM Poker MI is once again vying against PokerStars MI this week, hosting a 10-event series from May 16-23 in an effort to rival their competition.
So far, let’s take a look at the turnouts, prize pools, and overlays in MISCOOP events.
