Oscars Betting in Michigan 2021 Approved

Wagering on the Academy Awards has been granted approval by the Michigan Gaming Control Board, making it possible to bet on the Oscars in Michigan. This decision now brings the total count of US states allowing betting on the winners to three.

DraftKings has recently released the Oscars odds for the upcoming April 25 show. However, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the entertainment industry, it is expected that this year’s event may not receive as much attention as previous years. With less than two weeks remaining, individuals have a limited time to place their bets before the 93rd Academy Awards airs at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

By the end of business on Monday, PointsBet had published Oscars odds for the best picture category as well.

In the past, people could place bets on the Oscars in New Jersey and Indiana. New Jersey was the pioneer in legalizing Academy Awards betting in 2019, and Indiana followed suit last year. Until last week, it seemed unlikely that Michigan would be able to authorize betting on the telecast before the show aired.

However, this unexpected turn of events is a pleasant surprise.

The Oscars telecast will once again have no host for the third year in a row, with renowned director Steven Soderbergh leading the production.
