Soon, Michigan’s online poker enthusiasts will have an additional incentive to battle it out at the virtual tables.

Starting on Friday, May 13, the PokerStars MI Bounty Builder Series will kick off, offering a staggering 44 events spread over two weekends. With a total of $700,000 assured prize pools, all tournaments will be conducted in the captivating Progressive Knockout (PKO) format, aligning with the series’ thrilling theme.

Five trophy events (including $125K GTD Main Event)

One of the marquee events in the 11-day series, scheduled for Sunday, May 22, at 5 p.m. ET, is the $125K Guaranteed Main Event where the eventual champion will be awarded a trophy.

Included in the list of trophy events are:

  • On May 15 at 5 p.m. Eastern Time, there will be Event #10, the $200 PKO Special with a guaranteed prize pool of $60,000.
  • On May 17th at 8 p.m. ET, there will be an exciting event called Event #19. This event is a $1,000 PKO High Roller with a guaranteed prize pool of $50,000.
  • On May 18 at 7 p.m. ET, Event #22 will kick off, featuring the thrilling $100 6-Max PKO Wednesday Storm tournament with a guaranteed prize pool of $17.5K.
  • On May 22nd at 5 p.m. ET, don’t miss out on Event #37, the $300 PKO Main Event with a guaranteed prize pool of $125K.
  • On May 23 at 8 p.m. ET, join Event #42 for a thrilling $200 PLO 6-Max PKO tournament with a guaranteed prize pool of $15,000.

Except for the $300 Main Event on Sunday, May 22, all tournaments will take place in a single day. The Main Event will be an exception, as it will halt after 7 1/2 hours of play (including breaks) on Day 1. The competition will then continue on the following day, starting at 5 p.m. ET, until a winner is determined.

PokerStars MI bounty series has options at all buy-in levels

The PokerStars MI Bounty Builder Series caters to a wide range of players and bankrolls, featuring a total of 44 events. Participants can join with buy-ins as low as $5, while the majority of lower-stakes events fall within the $20-$30 range. For those seeking higher stakes, the series offers $100-$200 tournaments throughout, with the highest buy-in event set at $1,000.

There are a few notable events with lower buy-ins on the schedule that are worth mentioning.

  • On May 13th at 6 p.m. ET, there will be an exciting event called Event #1. This event offers a $5 buy-in and includes a chance to win a free bounty. Additionally, there is a guaranteed prize pool of $2,000.
  • On May 14th at 10 p.m. Eastern Time, there will be Event #8, a Turbo Zoom 6-Max PKO tournament with a guaranteed prize pool of $7.5K. The buy-in for this event is $30.
  • On May 15th at 6:30 p.m. ET, join us for Event #11, the Mini Special $30 PKO tournament with a guaranteed prize pool of $10,000.
  • Event #34 on May 21 at 6 p.m. ET is a $10 Hybrid Satellite with a guaranteed prize pool of $6K. Additionally, seven extra entries will be awarded for the $125K Guaranteed Main Event on May 22, which is valued at $300.

Hunting WSOP MI’s bounty, too

The WSOP MI Online Circuit Series, taking place from May 13-24, offers an additional opportunity for poker players in Michigan to compete for more than just the Bounty Builder Series. With its own guarantees totaling $510,000, participants can also vie for jewelry during this exciting event.

During this series, a total of twelve WSOP Gold Rings will be given away, one per day. The focus will primarily be on high-stakes buy-ins, unlike PokerStars MI’s four daily events which offer a wider range of buy-ins.

In essence, the fact that WSOP MI and PokerStars MI may hold simultaneous series implies that there will be a diverse range of options available for players. Consequently, with the two sites vying against each other, the players stand to benefit the most.

Bigger series on the horizon?

Michigan’s recent acceptance into the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA) means that it will soon have the opportunity to pool potential players with Nevada, New Jersey, and Delaware.

PokerStarsUSA exclusively operates in New Jersey among all the states, despite it being the oldest, it is the smallest market for the company. Nevertheless, their concurrent Bounty Builder series ensures a guaranteed prize pool of $500K, indicating that a potential future series combining players from multiple states could exceed $1 million in guarantees.

Currently, play continues to be restricted to The Mitten State, at least for now.
