Island Resort & Casino has been granted approval by the Michigan Gaming Control Board to appoint 888 Holdings’ VHL, Michigan LLC as their new online platform provider.
Island Resort & Casino, which is operated by the Hannahville Indian Community, entered into a partnership with 888 Holdings following the departure of TwinSpires from the online gaming sector.
SI Sportsbook MI is now available for Michigan sports bettors following the new agreement and approval from the MGCB. The launch took place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

Hannahville Indian Community and 888 Holding have made a formal request to the MGCB, asking for authorization to exclusively offer internet sports betting at the moment. It is anticipated that they will pursue approval for online casino operations in the coming months.

TwinSpires made an announcement in late August, informing its users that the closure of its Michigan online casino and sportsbook would occur on September 6th.
TwinSpires initially made the decision last February to exit Michigan’s iGaming industry, and now it has reached the final step in executing that plan.
After careful consideration, Island Resort & Casino decided to partner with SI Sportsbook as their new online operator.

Island Resort & Casino informed Playinmichigan last week that they have not yet determined the exact launch date for the new operator. However, they assured that an official announcement will be made in September.
