Mid-Michigan residents can anticipate the introduction of sports betting at Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort in early 2025.
In a recent announcement, Soaring Eagle revealed its plans to introduce betting services at its sports bar, which will be renamed as Ascend Sports Book & Lounge by mid-January.
A technology partner for sports betting has yet to be announced by the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. According to the press release, the announcement will be made in the “near future.”
Last week, Mike Bean, the CEO of Soaring Eagle, informed Playinmichigan that the tribe intends to employ its own branding for both online sports betting and online casinos in the future.
Soaring Eagle sportsbook upgrades in the works
The upgrade will include more than just Soaring Eagle Casino.
Sister property Saganing Eagles Landing Casino & Hotel in Standish will now provide sports betting services at its Creekside Lounge, as well as at The Slot Palace and Bingo Hall in Mount Pleasant.
In a statement, Bean expressed, “Our plan is to enhance Ascend, which is already an exceptional venue, to cater to sports betting.”
The enhancements will consist of adding additional televisions, betting kiosks, a betting window, and a ticker tape. These improvements will be implemented gradually in different phases, beginning with the introduction of kiosk betting and later incorporating the necessary modifications to the betting window.
Michigan currently has a total of 26 casinos, with 23 of them being tribal establishments. Out of these, 14 casinos provide sports betting services. If Soaring Eagle and Saganing Eagles Landing were to join the list, the count would increase to 16.

Online sports betting coming soon to Michigan
The Saginaw Chippewa tribe holds a significant advantage in the state due to the prominence and size of Soaring Eagle, which stands as the largest casino and a widely recognized brand in the region.
Nevertheless, the tribe will be the final among Michigan’s 15 casino operators to disclose their online technology or operations partner.
Online gambling in Michigan is set to launch in the near future, with a possibility of it being available as early as this month.
As the election aftermath concludes and the Michigan Gaming Control Board convenes on Tuesday, November 10th, it is important to establish greater clarity on the specific timing.
