LVI (56) Drinking Game Ideas To Add To Your Super Bowl LVI Party

Written By Julie Walker on February 8, 2022

In the hearts of all Michiganders, Super Bowl LVI has transformed into a heartfelt tribute to our magnificent state. Although the Lions won’t be playing that day, Matthew Stafford, formerly of the Lions and now with the L.A. team, holds a special place in our mitten-shaped hearts, and we all consider him our honorary representative.

Playinmichigan has put together a straightforward drinking game consisting of 56 prompts and a bonus one, designed to enhance the festive spirit whether you find yourself at SoFi Stadium, your mother’s house, Jason’s annual (now COVID-safe) party, the bar, or simply lounging on your living room couch on Super Sunday.

To participate, all you require is a television, keen observation abilities, and your preferred beverage. Just a friendly note: Many of the prompts will instruct you to take a sip. Remember, it’s only intended for a small sip, not guzzling down the entire IPA, unless specifically mentioned.

Moreover, remember that this game is purely for entertainment purposes. If you decide to follow along, make sure to consume alcohol responsibly, know your limits, and never drink and drive. Additionally, consider incorporating water into your beverage selection occasionally.

If you intend to utilize our guide, you might want to consider sleeping in on Monday morning (seriously, why isn’t this day a holiday yet?).

Regarding the major inquiry of when the Detroit Lions will finally participate in the grand event, the answer is simple: Next year, my friend!

OK, early birds, take a drink for each item below

• When kickoff commences
• If kickoff does not occur by 6:30 p.m., consume two drinks.
• If the opening kick is returned for a touchdown, take three sips of your drink.

Age is just a number, so drink once every time the following is mentioned

• Sean McVay, head coach of the Rams, is 36 years old, while Zac Taylor, head coach of the Bengals, is 38 years old.
• The Super Bowl witnessed McVay and Taylor making history as the youngest head coaches to ever lead a team in the grand event.
• During Super Bowl LIII, there was an age disparity between McVay, then-QB Jared Goff, and the opposing team, which consisted of Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, and the Patriots.
• At any given moment of his life or professional journey, Brady’s age remains constant.
• Mike Tomlin secured a victorious triumph in Super Bowl XLIII at a tender age of nearly 37.
• The ages and playing years of Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, and Evan McPherson are as follows:

Joe Burrow: Age and playing year information not available.
Ja’Marr Chase: Age and playing year information not available.
Evan McPherson: Age and playing year information not available.
• Stafford’s age
• The game is evolving with the emergence of a new wave of talented young quarterbacks like Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts, Lamar Jackson, and Patrick Mahomes. Brace yourself for a double sip if Collinsworth expresses his admiration for them.

Take a drink when the following happens during the Super Bowl halftime show

• Every television appearance by a senior speaker involves attempting to make a trendy remark regarding halftime performers such as Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Eminem.
• After halftime, one of your friends will be absent.
• During halftime, you find yourself dancing or swaying to any song that is playing.
• You hear someone you’re with or on TV talking about the recently released book about J Dilla, written by Dan Charnas.
• Enjoy a single beverage while your Detroit-based friends engage in the delightful activity of sharing jokes and posts about the Lions’ potential presence in the Super Bowl.
• Take two sips whenever there are jokes made about the Detroit Rams or L.A. Lions.
• Take a sip of your drink on two separate occasions whenever someone you are acquainted with engages in a debate about Stafford, whether it revolves around the Lions’ alleged failure to support him or his own shortcomings.

Continue to drink twice in the second half if you hear or see

• A touchdown is scored by returning the opening second-half kick.
• The victorious team is ahead by more than a single score.
• The kicker falls victim to an announcer’s jinx.
• The media frequently brings up and discusses Stafford’s tenure in Detroit with a sense of disappointment.

• Any word, regardless of its spelling, suffixed with “eaux.”
• The Bengals’ long playoff absence and their remarkable Cinderella narrative were brought up.
• Take another sip if someone mentions the Lions’ playoff struggles right after taking a drink.

Ghosts of championships past … Drink twice when you hear or see:

• The commemoration of the 40th anniversary of Super Bowl XVI in Pontiac brought back memories.
• People have fond memories of Super Bowl XL that took place in Detroit.
• Collinsworth’s participation in Super Bowls while playing with the Bengals.
• Bringing up Brady and his championships in any discussion.
• Every instance Collinsworth refers to Brady as “the absolute best at what he does”
• Brady’s retirement and subsequent statistics sharing are often discussed.
• Whenever an announcer reminisces about a cherished moment from any Super Bowl
• If someone tells you the exact year when the Lions last won a championship, make sure to finish your drink.

Victory formation … Drink as much as you’d like anytime you hear or see

• There are countless nicknames for Burrow, such as Joe Shiesty, Joey Brr, and many more.
• Whenever McPherson’s swagger is mentioned,
• Examples of on-field bromances, like Burrow connecting with Chase or Stafford linking up with Cooper Kupp.
• Any physically weak males expressing opinions about women in sports, whether online or in person
• Kelly Stafford can be seen in the stands, in her lavish box, or on the field rejoicing with her husband. Additionally, if Anna Kupp is spotted, that would be an exciting bonus.
• Past Lions associations, such as Bobby Layne, Barry Sanders, Calvin Johnson, Herman Moore, Doak Walker, Highland Park High School in Texas, and the Ford family, are referred to.
• If you were to win a bet or square
• You must consume your drink if you have lost a bet or failed to hit a square.

Overtime! Slam your drink and grab another if

• In overtime, the champion of the 56th Super Bowl is determined through a coin toss.
