Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel online gambling partnerships

The Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, owner and operator of Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel, entered into a lasting collaboration with William Hill in February 2020. This partnership designates William Hill as the sole provider of online sports betting and online casino gaming in Michigan, subject to regulatory authorization.

Apart from introducing online casino and online sports betting offerings, the collaboration also inaugurated the Onyx Sports Book by William Hill in September 2020 at Turtle Creek. Additionally, a satellite venue with sports betting kiosks was established at the tribe’s nearby Leelanau Sands.

In January 2021, the introduction of online casino gaming and online sports betting was initiated by William Hill.

In August 2021, Caesars acquired William Hill’s US division and subsequently rebranded all of its products under the Caesars name.

In September 2020, Traverse City’s premier sports bar transitioned from an excellent spot to catch a game to an outstanding destination for placing bets as well.

Turtle Creek joined forces with William Hill to offer retail sports betting services to the Grand Traverse region.

The sportsbook was established at Turtle Creek in the previous Onyx Sports Bar, with the aim of covering a major portion of the 2020 football season.

According to Jonathan Idec, the sportsbook manager, Onyx Sports Book provides a modern sports bar ambiance, with 13 flat-screen TVs for game viewing and various game playing options such as complimentary Golden Tee golf, billiards, darts, and shuffleboard.

In addition, a complete menu along with a full-service bar is available, featuring exclusive food and beverage deals during Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Lions games. Idec mentioned that the bar will introduce additional promotions and offers specifically tailored to major sporting events.

Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel poker room

The poker room operations at Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel came to an end on March 31, 2019.

Officials from the casino state that the closure occurred as a result of concerns regarding overhead and spacing.

Originally opened in 2008, the poker room was a prominent feature of the casino and ranked among the largest in Michigan. However, after a few years, the initial poker room underwent a transformation and was repurposed to accommodate high-limit slot machines. Consequently, the poker room relocated to a smaller area, now housing only six tables, while the remaining half of the room was designated for slot machine installations.

In 2008, Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel created a significant impact upon its opening, as reported by the local Grand Rapids Press.

In its coverage of the new Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel near Traverse City, the newspaper vividly depicted vibrant rays of light cascading at sharp angles across the spacious ceiling. The article emphasized the radiant hues of hot pink, tangerine, turquoise, cerulean, lime green, and many others that adorned the casino’s grand entrance.

Additionally, the description included a central skylight, an impressive 30-foot-tall wall of cascading water, and ambient lighting that made the slot machines appear as if they were not the main attraction.

Undoubtedly, the author expressed admiration for the new casino and hotel complex, spanning 360,000 square feet and costing $116 million. In stark contrast, the previous Tribal Casino, lacking any notable description, was demolished and substituted with a parking deck.

On June 24, 2008, Turtle Creek celebrated its grand opening with a captivating drumming and blessing ceremony. Additionally, Turtle Creek’s marketing department emphasized that it was more than just a gaming destination, but also a place to indulge in a remarkable culinary, nocturnal, and hotel experience.
