Michigan Powerball players should consider searching for their tickets from past drawings and rechecking them. The Michigan Lottery has a significant number of unclaimed prizes, some of which were won several months ago and remain unclaimed.
In Michigan, lottery prizes become invalid after one year from the drawing date. The Lottery lacks information on the purchasers of winning tickets; their knowledge is limited to the locations where the winning tickets were sold.
On August 13, 2022, a Lucky for Life prize was won, making it the oldest prize on the list. The cash value of this prize is $390,000, and it was purchased from Sunoco Utica located in Shelby Township, Macomb County. The winning numbers from the drawing that resulted in this win were 13-26-34-37-48, with the Lucky Ball being 2.
However, the Michigan Lottery has more pressing matters to attend to.
Pair of $1 million Powerball prizes purchased in Michigan remain unclaimed
During the Halloween weekend of the previous year, three individuals from Michigan who participated in Powerball emerged victorious, each winning $1 million. This occurred at a time when the jackpot had surpassed the remarkable milestone of $1 billion. However, up until January 27, two of those fortunate winners have yet to step forward and claim their well-deserved rewards.
The locations where the two unclaimed tickets were sold for the drawing on October 29, 2022, were as follows:
- The latest Buffalo Shell is situated at 18913 Laporte Road in New Buffalo, within Berrien County.
- Billy’s Liquor Depot II can be found at 27222 Grand River Avenue in Redford, Wayne County.
In order to secure the $1 million prize from the second-tier, a ticket must have the first five numbers correctly matched, regardless of their order, but should not have the red Powerball number matched.
The victorious combination drawn consisted of the following numbers: 19, 31, 40, 46, 57, with the Powerball number being 23.
Nine Michigan Lottery Powerball tickets hit $1 million during fall
During the latter part of October last year, the Powerball prize had surpassed $500 million and was rapidly approaching $1 billion. It is a well-known fact that larger jackpots tend to attract a higher number of ticket purchases. Evidently, players from Michigan must have been filled with optimism as the Lottery managed to sell over 43 million tickets during the period from August 6 to November 7, coinciding with the duration of the jackpot frenzy.
Before the $2 billion jackpot win in California, nine tickets in Michigan were able to secure the $1 million prize. Out of the total winners, seven have already come forward to claim their prizes. The winning tickets were sold at various locations, which are as follows:
