Michigan online poker players now have the unprecedented opportunity to contend for World Series of Poker bracelets without leaving the borders of the Mitten State.

WSOP.com has been operational in Michigan since the end of March, making it possible for WSOP MI to introduce its Michigan-only online bracelet series. This series will run every Sunday throughout the summer, coinciding with the main WSOP festival held in Las Vegas until mid-July.

As of now, three out of the eight Sunday events in the series have concluded, accumulating a total prize pool of nearly $350,000. Michigan has already crowned its first three bracelet winners, and an additional five champions will be announced in the coming month.

WSOP’s Norman Chad hand delivers first Michigan bracelet

Brett Blackwood, hailing from Belleville, emerged victorious in Event #1: The Big $500. He surpassed a total of 310 participants to claim the first bracelet of the series. Not only did Brett secure the esteemed gold hardware, but he also walked away with the grand prize of $35,559.

Norman Chad, the well-known WSOP commentator, also took advantage of the opportunity. He traveled to Michigan to surprise Blackwood with his bracelet and took the chance to inquire about the frequency of his WSOP.com play in the state.

Blackwood expressed surprise as he shared, “I had no idea that WSOP.com even existed until that moment. Interestingly enough, I only found out about the event on the very same day.”

Estes and Macleod also capture bracelets

On June 12, Todd Estes emerged as the champion of Event #2: $400 Ultra Deepstack, making him the second WSOP MI online bracelet winner. With a total of 331 entries, the event generated a prize pool of $119,161. Estes secured first place and received a career-high payout of $27,896.

John “Mac” Macleod emerged victorious in the inaugural WSOP MI online Pot-Limit Omaha event, asserting his dominance over a competitive field of 188 participants. His outstanding performance earned him a well-deserved prize of $21,387, a week after the event took place.

Following his victory, Macleod shared on Twitter that he tapped into his inner Dash Dudley, who had recently secured second place in the $50K PLO event at the WSOP in Las Vegas. Macleod also posted a brief video of his celebratory moment.

“That’s the way to secure a bracelet! Father’s Day victory right there! Let’s celebrate with a bracelet on Father’s Day! Time to wake up the kids, it’s Father’s Day! Woo!”

WSOP MI is outpacing WSOP PA’s series

The online bracelet series in Michigan has been a huge success, surpassing its counterpart in Pennsylvania in terms of participation. Despite both states running the same series exclusively for players within their respective state lines, WSOP MI has attracted larger fields in the first three events.

The upcoming PA online bracelet series for this summer marks its second occurrence, while Michigan is hosting its inaugural series. Nevertheless, Michigan has set the bar high by attracting a total of 310 and 331 entries for its first two NLH events, surpassing PA’s 270 and 272 entries.

In Event 3, the game was changed to PLO, resulting in Michigan’s 188 entries at $500 each surpassing Pennsylvania’s 152 entries for the identical event by more than 23%.

Michigan online bracelet series could reach seven figures

There are still five events left in the series, which includes the $600 Online Deepstack Championship on June 26 and the $1,000 Online Bracelet Championship on July 10.

In the upcoming weeks, WSOP MI is expecting its largest number of participants in the series, which may result in the total prize pool exceeding $1 million by the end of the event.

If the Online Bracelet Championship fails to reach that number, there are two final opportunities during the last weekend. The first one is the $777 Lucky 7s Second Chance on Saturday, July 16, followed by the $500 Summer Saver on July 17.
